10 Ways to Boost Your Happiness
All month long, we're celebrating the release of Field Guide to Happiness with excerpts from the book! I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
There is an entire section on different Happiness Boosters with different categories of "Popular Boosters, Do For Others Boosters, and Self-Love Boosters." These 10 boosters are from the "Popular Boosters" part of the book.
1. Get Your Freak On
Having sex once a week will make you happier! Don’t have a partner? No worries. Solo sex works just as well. ;)
Calling somebody instead of texting them puts an extra pep in your step. We all need that human interaction!
Spending time with your pets or somebody else’s will make you happier!
Make sure you get enough sleep! Being sleepy makes us crabby, and that’s the opposite of where we want to be.
5. Free Yourself
Claiming your freedom, whatever that looks like to you, will make you happier than any amount of money ever will. So, where do you feel tied down?
6. Nurture Your Relationships
Feeling good about your relationships will make you happier than $100,000! (Hmmm. Notice the trend here?) What can you do to nurture a relationship right now?
7. Fake Yourself Out
If you aren’t feeling happy, fake it! Soon real happiness will take over, and you won’t be faking anymore!
8. Color Explosion!
Yellow, and other bright colors, increase your happiness! Take a look at the colors around your home and your wardrobe. Are they doing their part in your happiness?
9. Choose It!
It should go without saying but we need to make our happiness a choice. Choose to be happy. Some days it may be easier than others, and that’s okay. Watch your thoughts and how you feel. If you aren’t feeling as happy as you’d like, do something to make you feel happier!
10. Find Some Water!
Being outside by water will make you happier! (It’s because of all of those negative ions!) It can be the ocean, a lake, a pond, or even a fountain. If the weather is warm, you’ll get bonus happy points.
